Dual Electronics announced it is continuing to focus on the marine electronics market with the introduction of two head units and a wired remote control, all of which are designed to fend off the challenges of life on the water while consistently delivering high output and ongoing reliability.

“Marine audio enthusiasts are quick to pick up on the benefits and value of models specifically designed for their needs, rather than offering standard mobile audio products in a white shell,” noted Robb Groner, Senior Product Manager, Electronics, for Namsung America, Inc., parent company of Dual Electronics. “That’s why we approach this category from the viewpoint of music lovers who want great sound as well as the technology that will ensure years of trouble-free operation.”

Two new head units – MXD100 (SRP: $299.95) and MXD61 (SRP: $219.95) – will be on display in the Dual suite, #H2825 in the Las Vegas Hilton. Both models feature EDP coating (Electro-phoretically Deposited Paint) that can provide a corrosion resistance under accelerated conditions for up to 2,000 hours. Additionally, the MXD61 is packaged with a custom mounting sleeve that resists the elements, and silicone membrane buttons that shield connections from moisture and salt.

An electronic fold-down UV-resistant faceplate and rubber controls segregate the elements from the electronics, while a clear-coated circuit board offers further protection, even under harsh weather conditions.

Along with protective components, Dual’s new marine models utilize a new high-current wiring harness with 16-gauge power/ground wire for enhanced sonic output. And, a 10-second 16MB D-RAM buffer guarantees skip-free performance, even on choppy water.

The MXD100 is an oversize FM/AM/CD receiver that gives the marine enthusiast a seven-channel NOAA weatherband receiver that gives the user 24/7 access to weather updates and other critical information. There is US/European frequency spacing, and added-value features such as 30 station presets (18 FM/12 AM), auto station store, one-touch memory, automatic local/long distance sensor, and more.

Additional benefits include a CD section with last position memory, pause, high-speed audible track search and other in-demand features, while the receiver itself includes one pair of preamp outputs, one pair of auxiliary inputs, positive green LCD, level meter and five selectable EQ curves – pop, jazz, classical, beat, and rock.

The MXD61 offers the same features and benefits as the MXD100, but in a single-DIN package.

Rounding out Dual’s latest marine audio models is the MR10 wired remote control, specifically designed for use with Dual products. In addition to managing primary functions such as volume, track select, mode, mute, and power, the MR10 is designed to fit in a pre-existing gauge hole or mounted on any flat surface. Also included are a six-meter extension cable, and users have the option of purchasing additional extensions and/or a Y cord.

The MXD100, MXD61, and MR10 are scheduled to ship in spring 2004.
