DUAL INTRODUCES THE XDVD8170
Apr 13, 2004 6,067

Heathrow, FL, April 13, 2004
Dual Electronics today announced it will soon ship the company’s first in-dash mobile receiver to feature a 7” LCD monitor, plus a built-in TV tuner and full DVD playback capabilities.

Scheduled to ship later this month, the XDVD8170 (SRP: $1,599) is a single-DIN AM/FM/CD/DVD/TV receiver that produces a fully motorized 7” TFT LCD screen at the push of a button, allowing passengers to enjoy razor-sharp images and full range audio through the vehicle’s existing speaker system.

“Mobile video will soon be as ubiquitous as mobile entertainment itself,” said Robb Groner, Senior Product Manager, Namsung America, Inc., parent company of Dual Electronics. “Improvements in technology and manufacturing are making it possible to develop smart, practical models like the 8170 that bring a host of video options into the mobile environment, making it easy to entertain passengers with an extensive choice of viewing options.

“As we dig deeper into this growing market, Dual will continually focus on staying true to our mission to develop advanced technology products that offer the highest possible value for the price point.”

Dual Electronics’ XDVD8170 is a full-featured mobile audio/video entertainment center with Dolby Digital and DTS outputs to play literally all commercial DVD’s, no matter if they are produced for North American (NTSC) or European (PAL) markets. In addition to DVD discs, the XDVD8170 plays all standard compact discs, as well as CD-R/RW discs encoded with .wav and .mp3 files.

The TV tuner section spans VHF channels 2 – 13 and UHF channels 14 – 83. Users can pre-program up to 30 stations in the receiver’s memory with an Auto Station Store feature. Also, the addition of four (4) diversity antenna inputs lets end-users choose the right combination of antennae for maximum signal strength.

The FM/AM tuner includes all of the most in-demand features, such as preset scan, Auto Station Store, one-touch memory and 30 station presets (20 FM/10 AM).

Dual Electronics’ XDVD8170 receiver is built for convenience and, if desired, expansion in any way the user chooses. Included are three pairs of preamp outputs, two pairs of A/V inputs, and two pairs of A/V outputs, so consumers can add additional video source units, video games, CD changers, and more. A 24 Bit D/A converter ensures the full spectrum of sound is reproduced, which is especially important when liening to the subtleties of the most complex soundtracks and music recordings. A remote control is included as well, enhancing both convenience and safety.

The 220 Watt (55 watts x 4) XDVD8170 will be available at the end of April.
